Independently, each student will complete the K of a K-W-L chart recording what they know about the dwellings of Native Americans.
With a partner, students will analyze the pictures in the links provided using the NARA form. When they have completed the analysis, they will together complete their K-W-L charts. They should come up with 5 questions that they would like to find the answers to based on what they have discovered in the photos.
With a partner, students will analyze the poster using the NARA form. When they have completed the analysis, they reflect on how their prior knowledge was reinforced by the poster and photos and what new understanding they have developed. They will record their findings by completing the Venn Diagram.
Students will reflect in their journals about their thoughts
about Native Americans and whether or not these images have made a change in those thoughts.
How did they change?
What will this change look and sound like in their thinking going forward?
How does this thinking change their thinking about people who are different from them?
